Obama - Now Regrets Decision to Save a Life

Posted in Uncategorized by Evodna on the February 28th, 2008

Terri.jpg Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Terri Schiavo’s family and a leading pro-life group blasted pro-abortion presidential candidate Barack Obama on Wednesday. They took issue with his comments during Tuesday night’s debate where he said his “biggest mistake” of his political career was voting for a bill to help save Terri Schiavo’s life. Story HERE.

Senator David Vitter - Thanking Him, Again

Posted in Uncategorized by Evodna on the February 27th, 2008

Vitter.jpg Say what you will about U.S. Senator David Vitter (R) Louisiana. I’m thankful he did not resign his seat.

From LifeNews.com
“The Senate approved an amendment on Tuesday that would permanently prevent abortion funding at Indian health care service facilities. The amendment from Sen. David Vitter would codify a longstanding policy against funding of abortions with federal Indian Health Service (IHS) funds.” Story HERE.

Thanking a Democrat, and Wishing it had been a Republican - (sigh)

Posted in Uncategorized, Bossier Voting Records, Caddo Voting Records by Evodna on the February 23rd, 2008

Hines.jpg Kudos to 24 year old State Representative Walker Hines (D) New Orleans for his efforts to add an amendment to pending ethics legislation which would have prohibited legislators from accepting free meals from lobbyists.

Hines amendment would have emulated Florida’s “no cup of coffee” rule. In Florida, legislators are not allowed to dine or drink at lobbyist expense.

Sadly, out of the entire Republican House delegation, the ONLY Republicans voting FOR the amendment were:
Tim Burns, Mandeville
Patrick Connick, Marrero
Patrick Cortez, Lafayette
John Guinn, Jennings
Jim Morris, Oil City (The only Caddo Parish Republican who voted for the amendment.)

All Bossier Parish and Caddo Parish Republicans voted AGAINST the amendment (again, with the exception of Jim Morris).

Perhaps they would like to provide an explanation as to why it is necessary to receive free meals (or free anything for that matter) from lobbyists.

I hate to be such a cynic, but I do recognize that Hines may have had ulterior motives in offering the amendment, as maneuvering to offer amendments which effectively kill legislation, are common in Baton Rouge. And perhaps those who voted for it didn’t agree with it, knew it would go down in blazing defeat, but also knew that voting for it would make them appear “tough” and reform minded to the folks back home (sorry, more cynicism).

Presently, however, I have no information that Hines’ amendment was anything other than a sincere effort to toughen the bill. And I won’t judge the motives of the few who voted for it. A vote is a vote, and theirs was a good one.

I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt at this point, and thank him for taking a tough stand, as well as thank the few Republicans (and Democrats) who decided that maybe elected officials can make use of the meeting rooms at the capital to discuss business, rather than over being wined and dined at Ruth’s Chris.

Getting Over It

Posted in Uncategorized by Evodna on the February 19th, 2008

No one has bellyached as much as I about a McCain GOP nomination, and as disheartening as it is, I cannot change it.

This is the tough reality. Either we get behind him, AND more importantly get behind conservatives running for Congress and the U.S. Senate, or we abandon our government to Hussein or Hillary, and watch as Congress falls deeper into the hands of liberalism.

What’s at stake if conservatives lose? Higher taxes, no border security, amnesty for untold millions of illegals (who demographically will likely be a powerful voting bloc for Democrats FOREVER), our tax dollars spent to kill human embryos, increased use of tax dollars for organizations supporting abortion, more taxpayer funding for the United Nations, and on and on.

Read the Democrat Platform if you think I’m just being an alarmist.

So what do you do? Do what I have done. Gut it up, be a realist, and educate your conservative friends what awaits us if they sulk in their rooms and refuse to vote this fall.

Finally, get over it. This will help: (Heads up - mild language near the end)

U.S. Marines - Standing Proud in a City of Shame

Posted in Uncategorized by Evodna on the February 12th, 2008

codepink.jpg 1mafposter2.jpgIn case you haven’t been following it, the Marine Recruiting Office in Berkley, California (yes,THAT Berkley) has been under siege by Code Pink, who are being aided and abetted by the Berkley City Council, and by the Democrats in Congress. It is shame beyond shame on the part of Harry Reid and the Democrat controlled Congress.

Story HERE. Prepare to get very angry.
