Posted in Uncategorized by Evodna on the December 6th, 2008

Dear Neighborhood Watch Partners,

Sheriff Deen and the Bossier Sheriff’s Office would like to make you aware of a scam that has filtered into the local area.

Victims of this scam will receive a text message via cell phone stating that there has been unusual activity on your Visa Card account and provides you with a number to call: 888-330-2811; once you call the number it will be answered by an automated recording that will ask your 16 digit card number, your expiration date and the three digit code on the back of your card. Once you have provided all of the information, the recording will thank you for your quick response in handling this matter, and hang up.

If you have been a victim of such a call, notify your credit card company immediately. Also, notify the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at 965-2203 to make an official report of the incident.

Please share this information with your neighbors, friends and family.

Remember, your credit card companies and banks will never contact you in this manner, and you should never respond to unsolicited request for personal or financial information.

Sheriff Deen wishes you each a Merry and Safe Christmas Season.

Have a wonderful day,

Capt. Doyle Dempsey
Director of Special Projects
Bossier Sheriff’s Office
(318)965-3466.
